SFC (Ret.) William E. Bixler, 76,White City, KS, passed away on Saturday, September 3, 2016 at his home surrounded by family. Cremation has taken place. A graveside service with full military honors will be 2 p.m. Thursday, September 8, 2016, at the Kansas Veterans' Cemetery 5181 Wildcat Creek Road Manhattan, KS. Reverend Rex Matney will officiate. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to be given to the Disabled American Veterans' or to the Wounded Warrior Project.

William was born June 8, 1940, in Youngstown, OH, the son of Howard Daniel and Helen (Harig) Bixler.

Mr. Bixler served in the United States Army retiring as an E-7. During his military career, he received the Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Good Conduct Medal, 4th Award, Republic of Vietnam of Gallantry w/Palm, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal w/1 Bronze Star, Driver and Mechanic Badge w/2 Overseas Service Bars. He was a member of the American Legion, White City Chapter #421 Eastern Star and the Luftbrucke Masonic Lodge No. 838 AF & AM in Wiesbaden, Germany.

Survivors include his children, Chantell Maxwell, Tonia Rumbaugh and husband Quinton, Ilona Rice and husband Rusty all of White City, KS, Jean Hirt and husband Bill of Council Grove, KS and Daniel Bixler of Junction City, KS; two beloved sisters, Jean Ketzel and husband Wally and Joan Keaggy and husband William both of Columbus, OH. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Billy Wolf, Andrew Wolf and wife Carrie and Dusty Maxwell all of Junction City, KS, Joshua Albrecht of Salina, KS, Kelsey Rumbaugh and boyfriend Troy of Topeka, KS, Natalie McCullough and husband Clayton of Abilene, KS, Samantha Rice of White City, KS, Amber Colvin and husband Mathew of Manhattan, KS, Travis Hirt and girlfriend Brooke, Madison Beavers and husband Jacob both of White City, KS; great-grandchildren, Daniel, Landon, Nylah, Jackson, Mikayla, Hunter, Wyatt, Reese, Sloan, Harper, Landon, Reagan and Colton and many nieces and nephews.

William was preceded in death by his parents Howard and Helen.
