Graveside services for Sgt. 1st Class (Ret) Norman Lambert Nowakowski, 78, of Junction City, will be held at 10:00AM, Monday, January 28, 2008 at Highland Cemetery, Junction City, with full military honors. Father Al Brungardt will officiate. Mr. Nowakowski passed away Thursday, January 24, 2008 at the Midland Hospice House in Topeka, KS. Memorials may be made in Norman's name and sent in care of Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel, 203 N. Washington, Junction City, KS.
Born January 10, 1930, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, he was the son of Kasimir and Angeline (Goltz) Nowakowski. Mr. Nowakowski graduated from Puloski High School in Milwaukee, WI with the class of 1948.He joined the United States Army on November 15, 1948 and was discharged on February 28, 1975. During his Army career, he served in Alaska, Korea, Germany, Vietnam, France, and Belguim. He earned his Air Borne Wings and Combat Infantry Badge while serving. On April 19, 1955, Mr. Nowakowski married Margarete Eisler in Frankfort, Germany. She survives of the home. Upon retiring from the Army he work for Stewart and White Construction, Mobile Traveler and then he was an Accountant and Administrator for Brown Mackie College in Salina. His hobbies included fishing and bowling.
