Joseph F. Scieszka, Jr., 81, of Salina, Kansas passed away on March 6, 2025, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas. Cremation has taken place and a graveside service with full military honors is scheduled for Monday, March 31, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Kansas Veterans' Cemetery in Manhattan, Kansas.
Joseph was born November 23, 1943. He was the beloved son of Joseph F. and Ann (Fiket) Scieszka in Chicago, Illinois. Joe was attending college when he felt the call to serve his country by enlisting in the Army. He spent his career in Military Intelligence. He served two tours in Vietnam.
After retiring from the Army at Fort Stewart, Georgia, he returned to Kansas, eventually settling in Salina. His landlords, Tim and Dawn Iman, welcomed him into their family. Tim helped Joe enjoy his love of gardening.
Joe's kindness, gentle spirit, and love of plants and animals left an indelible mark on our hearts that will forever be fondly remembered.
Joe is survived by one sister, Joanne (Karl) Bingham; two brothers, Eugene (Sandra) Scieszka and John (Socorro) Scieszka; and is uncle to Charles Bingham, Richard Bingham, Steven Bingham, Judy Bingham, Jennifer Zavala, Jake Scieszka, Natalie Scieszka and Christian Scieszka.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph, Sr. and Ann Scieszka and one brother, Frank Scieszka.
