Sfc Edward Jackson

May 23, 1957 — January 19, 2022

Father. Husband. Soldier. Servant. Friend. Charles Jackson lived a life of service. He was born in West Palm Beach, Florida to Eva D. Jackson Gloster, May 23, 1957. He graduated from Suncoast High School in 1975 and enlisted in the US Army in 1978. In that same year, he married his first wife, Sheila Jackson and the two shared a wonderful life together until she was called home to be with the Lord in 2015, after 37 years of marriage.

Charles served as an Engineer Tracked Vehicle Crewman and reached the rank of Sergeant First Class before retiring in 1994. Charles had a distinguished military career and received many awards and accolades, including the National Defense Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Bronze Star, and Meritorious Service Medal. Charles also served on the battlefield during Operation Desert Storm. His service to our nation did not end when he transitioned from the military. He found his greatest joy serving wounded warriors in the Wounded Warrior Battalion (WTB) where he retired a second time as an information and referral coordinator. Charles was known for his compassionate support of wounded warriors and his inspirational leadership, helping men and women broken from battle, find new hope and new careers.

Love blossomed again for Charles in 2019, when he met and married Susan Moravek. Charles dedicated himself to caring for others as a husband, father, grandfather, and great -grandfather. Charles not only loved his family, but He loved God. Charles dedicated his life to Jesus Christ and for many years served the church as a deacon. Although he had many friends and colleagues, his faithful companion was his dog, Brutus, who he cared for and cherished.

Charles Edward Jackson, (64) passed away on January 19, 2022, in Kansas City, KS. He is survived by his wife, Susan, and their children.
