SFC (RET) Albert B. Moore, 71, of Junction City, KS passed away at Geary Community Hospital on February 17, 2012. Graveside services with full military honors will be held at 10a.m., Monday, February 27, 2012 at Kansas Veterans' Cemetery with Reverend Johnny Magness officiating. Visitation will take place on Sunday, February 26, 2012 from 6p.m. - 8p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Mass-Hinitt Chapel, 805 Caroline Avenue. SFC (RET) Albert B. Moore was born in Williams-Port, Pennsylvania and basically traveled the globe as a distinguished member of the United States Army. During his twenty four year career he was awarded numerous awards and medals: National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with four Bronze Stars, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, and the Army Commendation Medal are just some of his many awards. During this great career, Albert received a letter from President Jimmy Carter for a proposal accepted and implemented by the United States Army.
Albert made his home in Junction City, Kansas where he resided for over thirty years. He was married to his wife, Rosie, in 1975 and they enjoyed a fruitful life together over the next thirty six years. Albert engaged in various endeavors after his retirement, the most recent being an exciting post with a railroad company. Fishing was his favorite past time as he would frequent Milford Lake with his bait and huge containers of coffee. Albert enjoyed poking fun at any bystander, laughing at their unsuspecting nature in clean hearted ribbing. Albert was a helper of people. There was no stranger and no one was turned away if Al noticed you. Albert is a great loss to his community as he was a friend, confidant and helper of many.
He is survived by his wife, Rosie; daughter, Tracey Moore, Oklahoma City, OK; son Johnny and his wife Zondra of Boley, OK; daughter, Brya of Manhattan, KS; brother, B. Edward Moore and his wife Barbara, New Britain, CT; sisters, Katherine J. Luther, New Haven, CT, Judith E. Davidson and her husband William of Endicott, NY, Cynthia R. Moore of Endicott, NY, Vanessa M. Coates and her husband Raleigh of Trevose, PA;brother, Joseph K. Moore of Harrisburg, PA; nine grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Albert was preceded in death by his parents, Katherine J. and Robert J. Moore, three sisters, and four brothers.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Barry Horowitz, Clarence Bailey, Brian Jackson, Willie J. Brown, Michael Roberts and Trey Magness.
