Sarah "Sally" Dixon, 93, of Milford, KS passed away on September 10, 2012 at the Via-Christi Village, Manhattan, KS. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10a.m., Friday, September 21, 2012 with Father Al Brungardt officiating at the Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel, 203 N. Washington Street. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, September 20, 2012 from 6p.m. to 8 p.m. with a rosary service at 7:30 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel.
Sally was born to James and Elizabeth (Bisheimer) Dixon on March 10, 1919. She lived in Geary County all her life. She grew up on the family farm and in Junction City. She attended St. Xavier grammar and high schools and was a life-long faithful member of St. Xavier's Catholic Church.
She moved back to the family farm and home place in the 1950's and worked at Hood & Spenser's clothing store in Junction City and then at the Treasurer's office at Irwin Army Hospital at Fort Riley from which she retired with honors after more than 30 years. After retirement, Sally returned to Junction City in 1992. From 2000, she was a resident at Good Samaritan Center in Junction City and at Via Christi Village in Manhattan, KS.
Sally was devoted to her brothers Frank, James, and Richard Dixon who preceded her in death. She was the family photographer documenting the childhoods of her Corcoran and Milord cousins for which they will be eternally grateful.
She is survived by cousins including Kate (Mike) Watson of the home place; Diane Milord of Dallas TX; Frank Dixon (Dan Volkmer) of Portland, OR: Daniel (Jean) Dixon of Villa Park, IL; Paul (Deborah) Hibberd of Louisville, KY.; Gregory (Mary) Hibberd of Chicago, IL; Mike (Linda) Hibberd of Hometown IL; Ruth (Kyle) Hibberd-Anderson; and friends.
Sally rarely spoke about herself and was known to her friends and family to show interest in them instead.
