Ruth Orth, 89, of Junction City, departed this life on August 26th, 2014, in Junction City, KS.
Visitation and a short vigil will be held from 6-8 pm on Thursday, August 28th, 2014 at the Penwell-Gabel Johnson Funeral Chapel in Junction City. Vigil will be held at 7:30 pm.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held to honor Ruth's life at 10 am on Friday, August 29th, 2014 at the St. Xavier Catholic Church in Junction City. Cremation and burial will follow at a later date.
She was born November 7th, 1924, to parents W.L. and Pauline Maxwell. Ruth taught at Westwood School for twenty years, and raised five children. She liked riding motorcycles, and being out at the lake. She loved to camp and travel, and enjoyed being outdoors. She had a wonderful sense of humor, and was also a talented piano player and teacher.
Ruth and Bill spent 64 wonderful years of marriage together.
Ruth is preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Jim and Bob Maxwell of Hays, KS.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving husband, Bill Orth of Junction City; Kathleen Velez (Irv) of Goose Creek, South Carolina, James Orth of Junction City, Robert Orth (Carol) of Lenexa, Kansas, Charles Orth (Darlene) of Larned, Kansas, William Orth, Jr. (Carol) Sabetha, Kansas, and a brother, Lee Maxwell of Hays, Kansas; as well as 21 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
