Ruth L. Moreland, 75, of Junction City, died July 31, 2015 at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka. Ruth was born Nov. 1, 1939 in Junction City, the daughter of George and Freida (Zernickow) York. She attended schools in Junction City, and was a 1957 graduate of Junction City High School.
Ruth was a former member of the First Baptist Church in Junction City, were she was active with missions and taught Sunday School Classes for over 50 years. Ruth currently was a member of Westview Community Church in Manhattan, were she taught Sunday School Classes and was active with the church's missions. Ruth was very active with the high school Class of 1957 Alumni activities.
Ruth worked in the cafeteria at Lincoln School in Junction City.
Ruth married Raymond Moreland in Junction City on April 3, 1960. Raymond survives of the home. Other survivors include: a son, Rodney Moreland and his wife Anna, Tulsa, Okla.; a daughter, Resia Muto and her husband Mark, Junction City; a sister, Florence Whitebread and her husband Don, Junction City; and 5 grandchildren, Marissa Muto, Mason Muto, Macie Muto, Luke Moreland, and Micah Moreland. She was preceded in death by her parents.
The family will greet friends Wednesday, August 5, 6:00 p.m.-8:30 p.m., at the Penwell-Gabel Johnson Funeral Chapel. A graveside service will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 6 at Good Hope Cemetery north of Chapman, with Pastor Pat Bennett and Pastor Mark Congrove presiding.
