Ruth Anne Carlson, 78, Junction City, KS, died Saturday, March 13, 2021, at Brookdale Assisted Living in Junction City. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, March 19, 2021, at Highland Cemetery 703 W. Ash Street Junction City, KS, with Pastor Tim Maguffee officiating. In lieu of flowers or live plants, the family suggests memorial contributions are to be given to the First Presbyterian Church or to the Junction City YMCA. Due to COVID-19, masks must be worn at the graveside service.
Ruth Anne was born October 27, 1942, in Junction City, KS, the daughter of O. H. "Bud" and Aretta Belle (née Zumbrunn) Walker. She has resided in Junction City her entire life. Her father, Bud, was killed in an accident when Ruth Anne was very young. Her mother remarried Bill Bitterlin. Her mother and step-father preceded her in death.
She married John H. Carlson June 3, 1962 at the First Presbyterian Church in Junction City. He preceded her in death on May 29, 2009.
Ruth Anne was a Loan Processor for many years at Central National Bank. She also worked for Mid America Machine. Ruth Anne was a member of the Geary County Historical Museum, YMCA Board of Directors and the First Presbyterian Church where she served as an elder, deacon and chancel choir member. She graduated from the Junction City High School with the class of 1960.
Survivors include one sister-in-law, Annie Guilmett; two nieces, Cleo Ney Hanna and Kay Lynn Dickson Jacob; four nephews, Dean Guilmett, Walter Ney, Eric Ney and Dennis Dickson.
