Public Memorial Services for Ruth Ann Hidy Gunderson,68,of Junction City, Kansas will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 14, 2002 at the First United Methodist Church, Junction City, KS. A private service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on the same day at the Community of Christ Church in Manhattan, KS.: Elder Don Bice will officiate. Ruth died December 1, 2002 at Salina Regional Medical Center, Salina, Kansas. No visitation will be held, cremation is planned. Memorial Contributions can be made to the Community of Christ Church, 401 Vattier, Manhattan, Kansas 66502. Ruth was born September 22, 1934, at Stewartsville, MO, to Gordon E. and Stella (Wood) Hidy. Ruth received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education from Pittsburg State University, a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from Graceland University, and a Master of Arts degree in Education from the University of Iowa. Ruth married Walter E. Gunderson, Jr. June 9, 1957 at Stewartsville, MO; he died December 6, 2002. Employment & Biography: She devoted 27 years to teaching, including 18 years at Westwood Elementary School in Junction City, Kansas. She was a member of Community of Christ Church. She served in the offices of Elder and
High Priest. Survivors: One Son: Gordon Gunderson, of Junction City, KS; One Daughter: Amy Johnson of Topeka, KS; One Sister: Marian Cawley of Grain Valley, MO; and Two Grandchildren. Preceded In Death By: Parents, Organist will be Dale Rider and Vocalists will be Ken and Melinda Martin.
