Russell Dewuain Sams, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle & friend, passed away at the age of 62. He was born in Council Grove, Kansas on November 19, 1961, and passed away peacefully on April 29, 2024.
Russ had a passion for Harley-Davidson motorcycles, often taking to the open road to explore the countryside he cherished. His love for nature was matched only by his commitment to serving his community as a member of the Fire and EMS departments.
A man of deep faith, Russ studied the Bible daily and maintained a close walk with God. He wished for his loved ones to share in that spiritual relationship and find love in the Lord.
Away from his public service, Russ found joy in working with his hands, and in the company of his beloved dogs and family. He was a devoted family man, always putting his loved ones first. His trademarks were “Love ya’s” and reminding them, "Always remember the road home."
A Celebration of Life for Russ will be held on July 6, 2024 at 10:30 am, at the Skiddy Cemetery in Skiddy Kansas.
In honor of his love for nature and in consideration of the family's needs, the family requests that in lieu of cut flowers, those wishing to express their sympathy make a donation towards medical expenses. Donations can be sent to Kay at PO Box 303, White City, KS 66872.
Russ left an indelible mark on all those who knew him, and his spirit of service, adventure, and family devotion will be deeply missed. John 11:25 “Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live.”
