Ruby T. Nixon, 101, of Junction City, formerly of Milford, died Feb. 20, 2018 at Geary Community Hospital in Junction City. Ruby was born September 5, 1916 in Fowler, Montana, the daughter of Torval W. and Anna K. (Hauglund) Halvorson. She attended school in Montana, and graduated from Conrad High School, Conrad, Montana. She later attended Business College in Great Falls, Montana.
Before World War II, she worked in Washington, D.C., where she met Willis R. Nixon from Milford, Kansas.
Ruby was a homemaker. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Junction City, a former member of the Milford Congregational Church, the Milford E.H.U., and Wakefield Eastern Star.
Ruby and her husband enjoyed going to many Salina Isis Temple functions in Salina.
Ruby married Willis R. Nixon on Dec. 27, 1945 at John's Lutheran Church in Salina. Willis died on Oct. 16, 1988 .
Survivors include: a son, Richard Nixon, Kalispell, Montana; a daughter, Donna A. Freerksen, Junction City; a brother, Torval Halvorson, Shelby, Montana; a sister-in-law, Joyce Halvorson, Chouteau, Montana; 2 grandchildren, Mark Nixon and Kristine Buckellew and her husband Rory; and 2 great grandchildren, Meeghan and Tuff Buckellew, all of Kalispell, Montana. She was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 4 sisters.
Ruby will be dearly missed by Donna, as they had many trips to Montana together and day trips almost everyday.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2018 at Penwell-Gabel Junction City Funeral Chapel, with Pastor David Meier presiding. The family will greet friends prior to the service, beginning at 9:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Milford Cemetery.
