SFC (Retired) Roy C. Chamberlain, 86, Junction City, died Saturday, October 26, 2019 at Valley View Sr. Life.
Roy was born Sept. 19, 1933 at Tiptonville, Tennessee, the son of Raymond and Fannie Mae (Clark) Chamberlain.
Roy attended high school in Tiptonville, and joined the U.S. Army upon graduation.
He retired from the U.S. Army in 1973, after serving for 21 years. He served in both the Korean War and Viet Nam War. He retired as a Sergeant First Class.
After his retirement from the military, he became a life insurance agent for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company for many years.
Roy was a member of Second Missionary Baptist, but after he and his second wife were married, he attended Ward Chapel AME Church with her. He was also a member of the Earl C. Gormley, Post #45 of the American Legion, Junction City.
Roy married Juanita Richardson on April 23, 1962 in Yakima, Washington. Juanita died August 13, 2010. Roy later married Alma Lee Collins on June 12, 2011 in Manhattan, KS.
Alma survives of the home. Other survivors include: 5 step-sons, Maurice Gadson, Salina, Eddie Gadson, Raleigh, North Carolina, Marvin Gadson, Salina, Steven Brown, Valley Falls, and Allen Hart, Holton; 2 brother, Joey Davis and John Davis, both of Kalamazoo, Michigan; a sister, Janet Davis, Florida; a very special niece, Liz Lawrence; and six step-grandchildren.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Danny Davis and Lawrence Davis; a sister, Alberta Chamberlain; a step-son, Larry Hart; a step-daughter, Alfrena Hart.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, November 1, 2019 at the Kansas Veterans' Cemetery at Ft. Riley, Manhattan. Full military honors will be provided by the U.S. Army Honor Guard from Ft. Riley. The family will greet friends on Thursday evening, October 31, 2019 at the Mass-Hinitt Funeral Home, Junction City.
