Funeral services for Rosemary Ann Fechner, 64, of Junction City are set for 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 7th, 2006 at First United Methodist Church, 804 N. Jefferson in Junction City. Pastor Paul Wolf will officiate. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Mrs. Fechner died June 5, 2006 at Geary Community Hospital in Junction City.
Rosemary was born June 20, 1941 in Hays, KS to Clarence and Ann (Novotny) Gilson of Plainville, KS. She graduated from Plainville High School in 1959. She was active in many school activities including band, mixed chorus, girl's chorus and was a varsity cheerleader. She continued her education Hays, KS at Fort Hays Kansas State College where she graduated in 1963 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. While in college, she was a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority and Student SNEA.
Her teaching career began in Topeka, KS, where she taught at both West Avondale and Maude Bishop elementary schools.
On June 11, 1967, Rosemary married Delwyne Earl Fechner in Plainville, KS. Over the years the couple resided in several areas of the State until 1975 when they made Junction City their permanent home.
Rosemary soon began teaching with USD 475 where she taught at many local elementary schools and she ended her career in 2006 at her beloved, Westwood Elementary School.
Delwyne and Rosemary had one son, Chad Allan Fechner, who Rosemary gave birth to in 1972 in Wichita, KS.
While residing in Junction City, Rosemary was an active member of the community and belonged to many groups and organizations. These include Delta Kappa Gamma, Gamma Phi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi and Friends of Hope Breast Cancer Support Group.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Delwyne. E. Fechner, on August 31, 2002 and her parents Clarence and Ann Gilson. She is survived by her son Chad A. Fechner of Junction City. Other survivors include an uncle, Raymond Nech of Salina a sister and brother in law, Rita and Bill Young, niece and husband Brenda Kay and Bryce Hamilton, nephew and wife Brad and Brenda Leean Young, five great nieces and one great nephew: Brittney, Brooke, Bethany, Brylee, Bayley and Brandon all of Wichita.

Calling hours will be from noon to 2 PM at the First United Methodist Church in Junction City on Wednesday June 7th, 2006.

Organist will be Cindy Carlyon and vocalist will be Melinda Martin.

Pallbearers will be Brad Young, Bryce Hamilton, Mike Olson, Brent Cooke, Gary Depew and Jeff Winchell.
