Rose Mary Katherine Forkenbrock, 94 , of Junction City, passed away on Sunday, November 16, 2014 at Sterling House in Junction City. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at St. Xavier Catholic Church with Father Al Brungardt and Father Kerry Ninemire concelebrating. A Rosary and Vigil service will be conducted at 6 p.m. Tuesday followed by a visitation until 8 p.m. at the Penwell-Gabel Johnson Funeral Chapel, 203 N. Washington Street. Rose Mary was born August 6, 1920, in Remsen, Iowa the daughter of John and Susan (Treinen) Schiltz.
She married Ambrose Forkenbrock January 20, 1944, in Remsen, IA. He passed away March 1, 1991. They lived in Junction City from 1954 until 1977. Rose Mary and her husband Ambrose later moved to Shell Knob, MO. She moved back to Junction City, KS in 1994.
Rose Mary was a homemaker. She worked as a cook for St. Xavier Catholic School. She was a member of the St. Xavier Catholic Church where she participated in the St. Xavier's Circle. She was also a member of the Eagle's Auxiliary. Rose Mary was an avid quilter. She enjoyed embroidery work and cooking. Rose Mary was known for her volunteer work and caring for relatives and friends in need.
Survivors include two sons, Ronald Forkenbrock and his wife Connie of Manhattan, KS, Bill Forkenbrock and his wife Sandy of Topeka, KS, two daughters, Pat Cervera of Arvada, CO and Karen Eddy and her husband Gary of Junction City, KS. She is survived by ten grandchildren, David Cervera, Deenie Cervera, Natalie Roemer, Chris Cervera, Jeff Forkenbrock, Scott Forkenbrock, Brad Forkenbrock, David Josh Forkenbrock, Jeremy Forkenbrock and Crystal Forkenbrock, seventeen great-grandchildren, Jennifer Cervera, Keisha Cervera, Luke Cervera, Sarina Dozier, Savannah Roemer, Courtney Roemer, Ryne Roemer, Madison Cervera, Abigail Cervera, Jayda Forkenbrock, Michaela Forkenbrock, Braedyn Forkenbrock, Destinee Forkenbrock, Damon Forkenbrock, Dariana Forkenbrock, Jordan Vetaw and Jay Vetaw, one great-great granddaughter, Emmeline Cervera. She is also survived by sisters and brothers-in-law, Margie Schiltz, Rita and Marvin Delperdang, Ruth and Ted Nelson and Maria Forkenbrock as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, Vernon and Cletus Schiltz, seven sisters, Callista Konz, Mathilda Treinen, Clarinda "Johnnie" Holt, Loretta "Red" Schiltz, Armella Kurth, Norma Means and Kathleen Pick.
