Rose Mary (Boller) Devane, age 87, passed on Saturday, January 28, 2012. Rose Mary was born in Junction City on April 25, 1924 to Frank E. and Mary A. Boller. She was a lifelong member of the St. Xavier Catholic Parish and attended school at St. Xavier schools. She graduated from St. Mary's Academy, Leavenworth, Kansas in 1942.
Rose Mary married Paul Devane on August 25, 1943 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Ogden, Kansas. Their early years were spent on the farm in the Upland, Kansas area. She shared her life with Paul for 43 years.
Paul and Rose Mary raised their family of five in Junction City. Rose Mary was active in the St. Xavier Altar Society, Circle One for 35 years. She took an active role in the education of her children and supported the many activities of St. Xavier schools. Reading was her hobby.
Rose Mary was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, her family was the center of her life. Rose Mary passed on her love for family, her dedication to education, and joy for living to her five children, thirteen grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
Rose Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Devane, her daughter, Carol Wawrzyniak of Junction City, her brothers, Joe Boller and Harold Boller of Junction City, her sisters, Etta Mae Regelman of Junction City and Betty Wilson of Bella Vista, Arkansas.
Rose Mary is survived by her sisters, Bernice Erichsen of Junction City, and Wilma Lathrop of Olathe, Kansas. She is survived by four children, Larry Devane and wife, Alice of Mustang, Oklahoma, Mary Lou Nuttelman and husband, Al of Enterprise, Kansas, Sarah Talley and husband, Ken of Junction City, Kansas and Colleen Smith and husband Randy of Milford, Kansas. She is survived by thirteen grandchildren, Mark (Carolyn) Devane, Michele Devane, Melissa (Zach) Hines, Melanie (Marcus) Smith, Matthew (Sarah) Devane, Mackensie Devane, Jennifer (Rick) Rein, Doug Nuttelman, Norah Talley, Kenny Talley, Kimberly Smith, Kacy Smith, and Kyle Smith. She is survived by eight great-grandchildren, Hannah Devane, Emma Devane, Collin Devane, Harrison Hines, Hadley Hines, Ava Devane, Breck Devane, and Alex Rein.
Visitation and rosary will be Tuesday, January 31st from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel on Washington Street, Junction City, Kansas. Funeral Mass will be on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at 10:00 am at St. Xavier Catholic Church, Junction City, Kansas. Father Al Brungardt officiating. Graveside service will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Junction City, Kansas.
