Rose Castaneda

Rose T. Castaneda, 91, of Junction City, died on October 1, 2003 at the Good Samaritan Center. Services will be Monday, October 6, 2003 at 9:00 a.m. at St. Xavier Catholic Church. Visitation will be Sunday, October 5, 2003, 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. with rosary at 5:30 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel. Burial will be at Fort Riley Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Xavier Catholic Church, 218 N. Washington, Junction City, KS 66441.

Rose was born August 30, 1912 in Manila, Laguna Province, Philippine Islands. She married Crisanto M. Castaneda in 1946 in Manila, who preceded her in death July 23, 1979. She worked as a teacher as Head of the Department of Home Economics in the Philippine Islands before WWII. She moved to Junction City in 1957 where she was a homemaker, a member of St. Xavier Catholic Church, past member of Circle 2, member of the Filipino American Club, and had worked as a volunteer for the Good Samaritan Center.

She is survived by two sons; Chris T. Castaneda of Dallas, TX and Edwin T. Castaneda of Dubuque, IA; one daughter; Lynn C. Bruetsch of Monticello, NY, one sister; Priscilla Galindo of Cagayan de Oro City, Philippines, and six grandchildren. Rose was preceded in death by her husband, four brothers, one sister, and one son; Crisanto T. Castaneda, Jr.

Pallbearers will be members of the family, and the music will be provided by Manuel Pasquel.
