Roland Loren Joe Stewart (Ron) was born on December 23, 1933, in Dunlap, Kansas; he died June 27, 2015, at the age of 81. He was the youngest of nine children born to Loren and Abby Irene (McCabe) Stewart. His family moved to Junction City where he attended grade school through high school. Ron played basketball in high school and was an avid K. U. basketball fan. He was active with the Junction City Y.M.C.A. where he looked forward to swimming and socializing with friends. Ron enjoyed listening to country music and loved serenading family with his guitar.

Ron owned and operated Academy Movers, Inc. for 47 years. Prior to entering the moving business, he was a drywall contractor, travelling throughout the Midwest. Ron continued his drywall business locally while running Academy Movers along with his two additional moving companies, RJ Movers and Stewart's Moving & Storage.

Ron married June Law and they were parents of four children: Laura Struebing, husband Steve; Randy Stewart, wife Barbara; Ginger Powers, husband Randy; and Robin Stewart, wife Connie. Ron was "Grandpa" to six grandchildren: Emily Powers, Brett Stewart, Adam Powers, Matthew Stewart, Lauren Stewart-Simmons, Jillian Stewart and one step-grandson, Patrick Struebing; he was "Pa" to three great-grandchildren: Derek, Zayne, and Harlie.

Ron is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Paula Delight Crumley, Topeka, and brother, Bill Stewart, Roseburg, OR. "Uncle Ronnie" will be missed by numerous nieces and nephews.

Despite his gruff exterior, Ron was an extremely generous and caring person. His family and friends will miss his quick wit and broad smile.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents and six of his siblings: Mack Stewart, Lorene Bittenbender, Juanita Couch, Evelyn LeMere, Zelma Christian, and Betty Dillon.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial contributions may be made to the Junction City Y.M.C.A., P. O. Box 113, Junction City, KS 66441.
