A Mass of Christian Burial for Roger Lee Dietrich, 68, Junction City, Kansas will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, November 15, 2006, at St. Xavier's Catholic Church with Father Al Brungardt officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery with full military honors. Mr. Dietrich passed away Thursday, November 9, 2006, at his home in Junction City, Kansas. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 14, 2006, from 6-8 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Funeral Chapel with the parish rosary to be recited at 7:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Homecare Hospice 323 Poyntz Ave. Manhattan, Kansas 66502 or to the St. Xavier's Catholic Church P.O. Roger was born August 1, 1938, in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin the son of Orville and Priscilla T. (Rubenzer) Dietrich. He attended McDonnell High School, graduating in 1957. He entered the U.S. Army March 1958. He served in Korea, Panama, Germany and Viet Nam, and received several awards, including the Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Viet Nam Service Medal, Viet Nam Campaign Medal, Good Conduct, and National Defense Service Medal. After being discharged from the Army August 1, 1980, he worked for the U.S Federal Service as a Military Pay Technician having retired in 2000.
He enjoyed working crossword puzzles and watching Green Bay Packers Football. Most of all, he enjoyed being a father and grandfather. He married Sandra L. Womack on February 4, 1961, in El Paso, Texas. She survives of the home.
He is also survived by one son Mark Dietrich of Clay Center, Kansas and one daughter Kelly Hurst of Dwight, Kansas. He is survived by five grandchildren; Michael Dietrich, Mitchell Dietrich, Michelle Dietrich, Kyle Hurst and John Hurst.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson Eric James Hurst.
