Funeral services for Command Sergeant Major Roger Harold Cline, Sr.(Ret), 73, Milford, KS will be 11:00am Friday, June 8, 2007 at Penwell-Gabel Mass-Hinitt Chapel. Burial will follow with full military honors at Fort Riley Cemetery. Mr. Cline passed away June 2, 2007 at Kansas Veteran's Home in Winfield, KS. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00pm Thursday, June 7, 2008 at Penwell-Gabel Mass-Hinitt Chapel, 805 Caroline, Junction City, KS. Roger was born August 26, 1933 in Owingsville, KY to Adrian and Beulah (Gillespie) Cline. He served in the U.S. Army for almost 26 years, serving in the Korean and Vietnam Wars before retiring at Fort Riley, KS as the Command Sergeant Major for the 1st Infantry Division's Division Support Command. Following retirement from the Army he served 16 years in Government Service as a Master Carpenter at Fort Riley's Irwin Community Hospital. He was active in the Mason's, serving four terms as Master of The Lodge in Wakefield Lodge # 396 AF&AM. Lifetime member of VFW Post 8773.
Roger was married to Judith K. Awana May 7, 1956 in Waianae, Hawaii, she survives at their home in Milford. Other survivors include three sons, Roger H. Cline, Jr. Overland Park, KS, James M. Cline, Leavenworth, KS and Russell S. Cline, Sr. Flower Mound, TX; four sister's Louise Reid, Middletown, OH, Phyllis Walker, Columbus, OH, Carolyn Lansaw, Holland, MI and Lee Ann Cline, Owingsville, KY; six grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents.
Pallbearers will be Roger H. Cline, Jr., James M. Cline, Russell S. Cline, Sr., Russell S. Cline, Jr., Charles Reid, and James King.
