Rodger W. Longhofer, 73, of Junction City, KS passed away unexpectedly but peacefully in his sleep on Monday, November 9, 2015 at his home. Cremation has taken place. Private inurnment will take place at Welcome Cemetery. Family will receive friends during calling hours 1-3 p.m. Sunday, November 15, 2015, at the Penwell-Gabel Johnson Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions are suggested to be given to the Hospice at Geary Community Hospital c/o Geary Community Healthcare Foundation P.O. Box 3015 Junction City, KS 66441.
Rodger was born May 27, 1942, the son of Oscar W. and Anna M. (Krause) Longhofer. Rodger was a life long resident of Geary County.
Rodger was an auto mechanic from 1961 until his retirement October 31, 2014. He worked at Jim's 66 from 1995 until his retirement. He raised purebred Yorkshire and Hampshire Hogs from 1976 until 1996 and enjoyed sharing his knowledge with 4-H Youth.
Rodger married his high school sweetheart Clarice Rogers December 11, 1960, in Junction City. She survives of the home.
Survivors include one son, Duane Longhofer of Indianapolis, IN; one daughter, Deena McGrath (Greg) of Fort Collins, CO; three granddaughters, Allyson and Lexi McGrath and Jillian Longhofer; two brothers, Ron Longhofer (Norma) of Michigan, Richard Longhofer (Kathy) of California; one sister, Linda Adams (Glen) of Nevada. Rodger is also survived by special in-laws that made him a part of their family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son Dennis Longhofer December 2010.
