Robert W. "Woody" Woodard

Robert W. "Woody" Woodard, 62, of Junction City, died Nov. 7, 2014 at Mercy Regional Hospital in Manhattan. Woody was born Nov. 19, 1951 in Blossburg, Pennsylvania, the son of Paul & Virginia (Wilson) Woodard. He attended schools in Blossburg, and graduated from Blossburg High School.
After high school, Woody enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he spent the next 23 years. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, having served 2 tours of duty. He retired as a Sergeant First Class. After his military career, he worked at Ft. Riley in the U.S. Post Office.
Woody was a member of the First Baptist Church, and the Earl C. Gormley, Post # 45 of the American Legion.
Woody married Chong Cha on Sept. 30, 1984 in South Carolina. Chong survives of the home. Other survivors include: 4 brothers, Paul, Clarence, Butch, and Clifford; and 6 sisters, Pearl, Isa, Pam, Ida, Teresa, and Penny.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 14, 2014 at the Kansas Veterans' Cemetery at Ft. Riley, with Pastor James Callaway presiding. Military honors will be provided by the U.S. Army Honor Guard from Ft. Riley. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church in Junction City.
