A funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 9, 2007, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church for Robert H. Ray, 78, Junction City, Kansas. Pastor Matt Christensen will officiate. Interment will follow the service at Highland Cemetery. A visitation will be from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Thursday, November 8, 2007, at the Penwell-Gabel Johnson Funeral Chapel 203 N. Washington Street. Mr. Ray passed away Monday, November 5, 2007, at the Mercy Regional Health Center in Manhattan, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be given to the Immanuel Lutheran Church 630 S. Eisenhower Junction City, Kansas 66441.
Mr. Ray was born September 30, 1929, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma the son of James and Gladys (Messner) Ray. He has resided in Junction City since 1962.
Mr. Ray served in the United States Air Force. He was a United States Civil Service Employee for 26 years working as a telephone installer. He retired in 1984. He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church; V.F.W. Post # 1594 and the American Legion Post # 45 all of Junction City, Kansas.
He married Pauline Karst August 28, 1955, in Hoisington, Kansas. She survives.
He was preceded in death by one son, James E. Ray December 30, 2006.
He is survived by his daughter Donna Potter and her husband Arthur of Junction City, Kansas and his sister Betty Lovelace of Salinas, California. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Rhonda Tagtow and her husband Gary, Lee Potter and his wife Domonique, Gabreal Tillotson, Matthew Ray and three great grandchildren.
