Robert Errol McCoy, affectionately called 'Bobby' throughout his lifetime was born on August 8, 1951 in St. Louis, MO to John and Mildred McCoy. He was the fourth of five children. His mother, biological and stepfather preceded him in death.
Bobby was baptized catholic at an early age and grew up in the Catholic faith. He was educated in the St. Louis Public school districts.
Bobby was drafted into the U.S. Army directly after his high school graduation and served a term in Korea. He was discharged honorably after serving three years.
God called Bobby 'home' on January 13, 2012, in Junction City, KS where he and his family were living. Bobby leaves behind to cherish his memories his loving and devoted wife Tonie Yun; one son, Bobby McCoy (Lora); one daughter, Juandell 'Dell' Wagner; one brother, James 'Butch' McCoy (Pearl); three sisters, Jonnetta 'Jan' Smith, Sandra 'San' Robinson (Darryl) and Debra 'Deb'Tolliver-Nash; seven grandchildren; one step granddaughter; one great granddaughter; four nieces, one preceded him in death; four nephews, one preceded him in death; five great-nieces; nine great-nephews, one preceded him in death; one grand-niece; three grand-nephews, one preceded him in death; one aunt, Gloria Peters-Black (Lloyd); one special Godfather Lee Gatlin (Norvella), and a host of cousins and good friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, January 21, 2012 at St. Xavier's Catholic Church with Father Al Brungardt officiating. Burial will follow the service at Highland Cemetery with full military honors. A visitation will be tonight from 6-8:00 p.m. with a vigil service at 7:30 p.m. at the Penwell-Gabel Johnson Funeral Chapel 203 N. Washington Street.
