Robert Marsh, Jr., 70, of Junction City passed away at the VA Hospital in Leavenworth, KS. on Tue., Feb. 3, 2004. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Mon., Feb. 9 at the Penwell-Gabel Mass-Hinitt Chapel with burial at the Fort Riley Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 p.m., Sun., Feb. 8 at the funeral chapel. Chaplain (LTC) Daniel Jenks will officiate the service. He was born Dec. 13, 1933 in Youngstown, OH, the son of Robert and Kitty Bell (Carter) Marsh, Sr. He was a graduate of North High in Youngstown.
He retired from the army as a first sergeant after 21 yrs of service. During his service he fought in the Vietnam War and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Occupation Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Combat Infantryman's Badge, Vietnam Service Medal with One Silver Star, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Bronze Star Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal, Expert (M-14 Rifle), Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with PALM. After his military career he worked for Beneficial Finance for several years and then started his own business called MC Agency, Inc and owned and operated it for 17 years. He was also involved with the Buffalo Soldier Memorial. He was a member of the Baptist Church, the VFW (Past President), American Legion and the Geary County Sheriff's Posse.
Survivors include one sister, Geraldine Milton of Savannah, GA., host of nieces and nephews and special friends, Judy and Rick.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Robert Marsh III.
