Robert Eugene Jeffrey

MSG (Retired) Robert Eugene Jeffrey, 85, of Junction City, KS died, Friday, June 8, 2018 at his home. Robert was born October 3, 1932 at Norman, Arkansas, the son of Robert William & Ella Mae (Hauge) Jeffrey. Robert attended schools in Norman and joined the U.S. Army right out of high school.

Robert had a military career that spanned over 20 years, and he retired as a Master Sergeant in July, 1970. One of the many honors Robert was awarded was a Purple Heart. After his military career, Robert spent 20 years as a truck operator for FTI-operating as Jeffrey Trucking of Hugoton, KS.

Robert was a member of the Capt. Edgar Dale, Post #81 of the American Legion, El Dorado, KS.

Robert married Ann Tarwater on Aug. 3, 1956 in Poteau, Oklahoma. Ann died Feb. 25, 1997.

Survivors include: 2 sons, Bob Jeffrey and his wife Christine, Milford, and Doug Jeffrey, Junction City; a daughter, Shannon Jeffrey, Junction City; 3 grandsons, Robert Jeffrey and his wife Emily, Mitchell Jeffrey and his wife Janelle, and Nathan Jeffrey; 2 great-grandchildren, Hallie Jeffrey and Robert Jeffrey, IV; and 2 cousins, Mary Joyce Johnson, Norman, Arkansas, and Jeffrey Green, Nevada. Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Ann, a son, Don Jeffrey in 1984, and his daughter, Shirley Jeffrey in 2015.

It was Robert's wish to be cremated.

Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 16, 2018 at Penwell-Gabel Junction City Funeral Chapel. Burial of the ashes will follow at the Milford Cemetery. Full military honors will be presented at the cemetery by the U.S. Army Honor Guard from Ft. Riley, KS. The family will greet friends prior to the service beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
