Robert E. Dabbs, 73, of Ogden, KS, passed away on July 28, 2016, at Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan, KS. Dove Cremation & Funeral Service of Junction City, KS, is assisting the family with cremation arrangements. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
Robert was born on March 18, 1943, in Hueytown, Alabama to Morgan and Flora (Richardson) Dabbs. As a young man, he joined the United States Army and retired as a Command Sergeant Major (E-9) from the military police at Fort Riley, Kansas after over 22 years of service.
During his military service, Robert was awarded with the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, The Army Commendation Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, "Marksman" on the M-14 rifle, "Expert" on the M-16 rifle, "Sharpshooter" on the .45 caliber pistol, and other ribbons and decorations.
While attending college, he was a member of Pi Kappa Delta. He was also member of the VFW in Ogden after his retirement.
Robert enjoyed keeping up with current event and was a regular viewer of the news. Some of his other interests were history, political science, and watching Animal Planet, Discovery Channel, and Antiques Roadshow.
Robert is survived by his two sons Robert S. Dabbs of Manhattan, KS, and Morgan Edward Dabbs of Los Angeles, CA; ex-wife, Elisabeth Dabbs of Manhattan, KS; siblings, Don (Shirley) Dabbs, Jerry (Sandy) Dabbs, Helen Syx, Sue (Charles) Turner, Ann Roberts and Nancy (Ray) Glover, all of Hueytown, AL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Morgan and Flora Dabbs, and his brother, Richard Dabbs.
