Rita Robinson Stricklin, 73, died November 28, 2018 at Homestead of Manhattan, KS. Rita was born Nov. 11, 1945 at Hadley Hospital in Hays, KS to Mildred and Leo Robinson of Hill City, KS. She attended grade and high school in Hill City, and graduated from Kansas State University in 1967. In June of 1967, she married Gary Stricklin. During Gary's military duty they lived in Georgia, New Jersey, and Okinawa. Two sons were born to this union.
Rita was extremely creative and not afraid of hard work. She owned and led nursery schools in Manhattan, KS and Oberlin, KS. When the family moved to Loveland, CO, she immediately became a hiker and shared her love of hiking with many friends and family. She owned a bookstore and later a concrete shop (the Concrete Goose) in Loveland, CO. Rita's love of animals was all-inclusive. She loved and cared for dogs, cats, ferrets, birds, gerbils, and horses. When she retired, she moved to Hill City, KS. Her grandchildren brought her much joy, and they were greatly entertained when they visited her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Mildred Robinson of Hill City. She is survived by her sons Quenton of Denver, and Corey (Tami) of Evans, Colorado; grandchildren Tennyson and Corbett of Denver, CO, and Heather and David of Richland, WA; great grandchildren CJ and Abby; sisters Lois Davis Frey and Janice Legere of Hill City, and Carol Ablah (Amil) of Wichita, KS; nephews Craig and Terry Davis; nieces Jill Davis, Beth Moxley, Lora Lawrence, Kelly Coleman, and Elizabeth Ablah. At Rita's request, there will be no service.
