Rita L. Shumate

Funeral services for Rita L. Shumate, 81, of Junction City, KS will be 11 a.m. Monday, July 17, 2006 at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel with Roger Shumate officiating. Burial will follow at St. John's Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, 5-8 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel. Mrs. Shumate passed away on July 12, 2006. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society, Heartland Division, 1100 Pennsylvania Avenue, Kansas City, MO 64105.

Mrs. Shumatewas born February 8, 1925, Norristown, PA to Walter and Bertha Walker. She married Harding D. Shumate March 14, 1943 and has been a resident of Junction City for 23 years. She worked at Footlocker prior to her retirement.

She is survived by her husband, Harding of Junction City, one son, Dennis N. Shumate of Junction City, one sister, June Kroninger of Pottstown, PA, ten grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two daughters; Carol Vargas and Linda Rudolph

Pallbearers will be Rusty West, Darrell Patterson, Daniel Brewer, Joshua Stephens, Bryon Shumate and Shannon Shumate.
