Ricky Scott Davis, 55, passed away after a short fight with a rare form of cancer on February 20, 2016, in his home in Mary Esther, Florida, with his family surrounding him. He was born on May 14, 1960 in Junction City, Kansas.
Ricky grew up in Junction City, Kansas. He graduated from Junction City High School with the class of 1978. After high school Ricky attended the VO-Tech in Salina, Kansas where he received a certification in automotive repair.
Ricky married his high school sweetheart Carolann Gearheart on April 28, 1980 in Lincoln, Nebraska. They were happily in love and married for over 35 year. Ricky and Carolann lived in Lincoln, Nebraska for 11 years where they had both of their children, daughter Christal and son Ryan. Also became a foster parent to foster daughter Shana. Ricky was an auto technician and managed 2 service stations for Capital Standard while living in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Ricky, Carolann, and the family made the big move to Mary Esther, Florida in 1991. Ricky was then employed as a auto technician and he was one of the founders of the mechanic side of Keller's Tire Center in Ft. Walton Beach, Florida where he worked 25 years, from 1991 until he passed away. He was a skillful, master mechanic and first-class at what he did.
In 2009, Ricky bought his first of many motorcycles and found the love of riding. Ricky was an avid motorcycle enthusiast. In November 2010 Ricky joined and was an active member of the Sand Dollar MC. This was just the start of his many miles. In August 2015 Ricky was voted in as a honorary member of the Green Knights MMC Chapter 89. Ricky was an ardent BACA (Bikers Against Child Abuse) supporter for many years. "Supporter" is the entry level status for all BACA hopefuls. Ricky enjoyed riding with the Emerald Coast HOGs chapter # 3605. One of many awards Ricky received was a world renown award called the "Iron Butt Challenge" the award requires one to ride 1,000 miles in a 24 hour period. Ricky completed this challenge in 18 hours. Ricky's heart was his family and the love of riding.
Ricky is survived by his wife Carolann (Gearheart) Davis; his daughter Christal (Timothy) Stewart; his son Ryan Davis and his friend Beverly Gerber; his foster daughter Shana (Martin) Guererro all of Mary Esther, Florida; his father George Davis of Junction City, Kansas; brother Michael (Tina) Davis of Junction City, Kansas; sister Leslie (Jeff) James of Wakefield, Kansas; brother Mike (Keri) Ronaldson of Eagle Mountain, Utah; brother Chad (Tracy) Ronaldson of Seattle, Washington; brother Josh (Angela) Ronaldson of Thousands Oaks, California; brother Matt (Divina) Ronaldson of Buckhead, Maine; brother Tyler (Nicole) Ronaldson of Galion, Ohio; his five granddaughters Jewels, Hannah, Grayce, Bella, Annalynn and two grandsons Julio and Maverick all of Mary Esther, Florida and several other special family members and long time friends.
Ricky was preceded in death by his mother Sharon Kay (Bradshaw) Davis of Junction City, Kansas; grandparents Annie and Quinton Bradshaw of Junction City Kansas; and William Ronaldson
A funeral service will be held at Dove Cremation and Funeral Service, 805 Caroline Ave., Junction City, Kansas 66441 on February 29, 2016 viewing will be held from 12:30 p.m. - 1:30 p.m., services held at 1:30 p.m. Burial will follow at the Ogden Cemetery with a reception following at the Ogden Community Center.
A Celebration of life and a memorial motorcycle ride will be held in Ft Walton Beach, Florida in March.
The family would like to give a special thanks to his nurse Betty Fugate Scamahorn for all the above and beyond services.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations to be made to the Cancer Research at MD Anderson Cancer Center for rare cancers like what Ricky had.
