Richard Joseph Wells, 65, of Manhattan, KS, formerly of Junction City, KS, passed away on May 28, 2021. The Johnson Funeral Home of Junction City is assisting the family with cremation arrangements.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 9, 2021, beginning at 10:00 am at the Johnson Funeral Home, 203 N. Washington Street, Junction City, KS. The memorial service will follow the visitation with Pastor Joyce Allen officiating and Eloise Morris leading the memorial program.

Richard was born on January 16, 1956, in Jersey City, New Jersey, to Raymond and Dorothy (Sims) Wells. As a military child, he and his family lived in many places with his father's military obligation. He ultimately settled in the Junction City/Manhattan area. He is preceded in death by his father.
He was a member of The Junction City Pace Setters (Special Olympics), The Manhattan Special Olympics and the Big Lakes Developmental Program. His other interests include listening to classical music and reading about traveling. He loved to learn about the many different places and cultures of the world. He was a unique and caring person and will be dearly missed.
Richard is survived by his loving family: his mother Dorothy J. Wells of Junction City, KS; his two sisters, Anne Wiseman of Greenbelt, MD, and Jyarland Daniels of Detroit, MI; his three brothers, Stephen Wells of Junction City, KS, Donald (Kimberly) Wells of Topeka, KS, and Daniel James Wells of Junction City, KS; brother-in-law Scotty Wiseman of Lanham, MD; three nephews, David, Jason and Christopher Wells of Topeka, KS; niece, Savannah Wiseman; dear friend Margee Barlow of Junction City, KS; Caretaker and dear friend, Grace of Manhattan, KS; and a host of family, extended family and friends.
The family is especially thankful to the staff and residents of Big Lakes Development Center, who loved Richard and treated him as one of their own.
