Richard D. "Rick" Swango, 46, of Junction City, passed away on July 18, 2021 at Good Shepherd Hospice House. Visitation will be held Friday, July 23, 2021, from 5:00 pm. to 7:00 pm. at Johnson Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 203 N. Washington Street. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 24, 2021, 11:00 am at the Junction City Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Jimmy Dupree officiating. Cremation will follow the services. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Good Shepherd Hospice House, 3801 Vanesta Drive, Manhattan, KS 66503 and the St. Luke's Foundation, Pancreatic Cancer Research Center, 901 E. 104th St. #100S, Kansas City, MO 64131.
He was born on December 13th, 1974 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Jean McNabb. Rick was a 1994 graduate of Crystal River High School in Crystal River, FL. He joined the US Army in 1998 and served until 2002. This included time spent in Kuwait. Following his time in the military, he managed a local hotel while developing his own janitorial business that later franchised to Rainbow International in 2012. In a short period of time Rick became a Master Restorer, receiving numerous awards including Franchisee for the Year for 2015. Although proud of his awards, his passion was in teaching others and creating futures for the people around him. He did what he loved and loved what he did.
Rick was an avid Nascar, Football and Soccer fan. He was a member of the 70th Armor Regiment, the Junction City Elk's Lodge, multiple committees for the Rainbow International corporate offices, coached multiple youth sports teams, former member of Legacy Church of Grandview Plaza, and recently attending the JC Nazarene Church. He loved traveling, mountain climbing with his pals in Colorado, hunting and riding his Harley. Rick will be greatly missed by his family and his many friends.
On May 13, 2000 he married Kellie Boltz-Swango, Kellie survives of the home.
Richard is also survived by his mother, Jean McNabb of Ootlewah, TN; Stepfather, Carl Hoffman of Panama City, FL; Daughters, Karsen Lechner of Las Vegas, NV and Brooke Swango of Junction City, KS; two Grandchildren, Madalyn and Jonas of Las Vegas, NV. Amongst numerous other family members.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, David and Careline Matthews and his father in law, Phil Reagan.
A reception will follow with the family after the services at Rainbow International, 2132 Lacy Drive, Junction City, KS.
