Funeral Services for Richard S. "Dick" Umscheid, 92, will be Wednesday, June 15, 2005, 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church with Pastor Russ Glaser officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 14, 2005, 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel. Burial will be at Bala Cemetery at 2 p.m. Mr. Umscheid passed away June 11, 2005 at Topeka Presbyterian Manor Care Center, Topeka, KS. Memorial contributions may be given to First Presbyterian Church, 113 W. 5th, Junction City, KS 66441 and/or the Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders Association, 515 S. Kansas, Suite B2, Topeka, KS 66603.
Mr. Umscheid was born March 5, 1913 to Joseph and Alice (Lelievre) Umscheid. Mr. Umscheid was a barber in Junction City for over 50 years. He was married to Edith Parry, February 17, 1942. He was a member of the Elks Lodge of Junction City and attended the First Presbyterian Church of Junction City until he moved to Topeka in 2003. When he was younger he enjoyed hunting, fishing and blue rock shooting.
He is survived by his wife Edith of Topeka, one brother, Floyd of Leavenworth, KS and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, Paul, Harold, Bernard, Ben, Arthur and Bob, two sisters, Leona O'Brien and Cecelia Simmer.
Musicians will be Vaudene Field and Rick Munson
Pallbearers will be Jack O'Brien, Harry O'Brien, John Simmer, Joe Umscheid, Randy Umscheid and Rick Umscheid.
