Richard Rothfuss, 73, of Junction City passed away May 30, 2018 at Salina Regional Medical Center. A visitation with family and friends will be Monday, June 4, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, 203 N. Washington Street. Private family burial will take place following the services. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be designated to St. Jude's Children's Hospital and/or the Junction City United Way.
Richard was born February 18, 1945, Topeka, KS to Harry James and Mabel Mae (Alderson) Rothfuss. He graduated high school from Miltonvale High School in Miltonvale, KS and attended college at Emporia State University. Richard served in the National Guard for 6 years. He was the owner and operator of R&R Developers for over 40 years and spent the better part of his lifetime building in the Junction City Community.
He was a car enthusiast and enjoyed playing golf and spending time with his sons and grandchildren.
He is survived by his two sons, Dustin Rothfuss and Matt Rothfuss both of Junction City, KS; three grandchildren, Nolan Rothfuss, Carly Rothfuss and Mason Rothfuss all of Junction City, KS; his former wife Shelby Rothfuss Cooper of Junction City, KS; three brothers, Ray, Paul and Darrel Rothfuss and one sister, Wilma Rumbaugh of Junction City.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Ryan Remmers and one brother, Don Rothfuss.
