Richard A. Lawrence, 68, of Junction City, passed away on January 25, 2018.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 30, 2018, 11:00 am. at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, 203 N. Washington Street in Junction City, KS, with Pastor Woo Jang officiating.

Visitation will be held the night before on Monday, January 29, 2018, from 6:00 pm. to 8:00 pm. at the funeral home.

Burial will follow the funeral service at the Kansas Veterans' Cemetery at Fort Riley, Manhattan, KS.

Richard was born on September 12, 1949, in Brunswick, Maine to Warren and Barbara (Harris) Lawrence. After High School, he entered into military service with the United States Army. While deployed, he met and married Kyong Kim in Seoul, Korea on July 26, 1976. With his military obligation, the family moved to many places. He retired as a Mater Sergeant (E-8) after proudly serving his country for over 24 years. He and his family ultimately settled in Junction City, Kansas where he continued to serve in a civilian capacity on various supply contracts on Fort Riley.

He earned many awards while serving his country. They include: The Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal 4th OLC, Army Achievement Medal 1st OLC, Good Conduct Medal 7th AWD, National Defense Service Medal W/1 Service Star, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic Of Vietnam Campaign Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon W/ Num 3, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon W/ Num 4, and Expert Badge Rifle M-16.

Richard was very active and loved to fish and go bowling. He was also a family man. Richard was a dedicated husband, loving father, and excellent provider.

He is survived by his loving wife Kyong of Junction City, KS; his daughter Cindee and her husband William L. Barnard III of Bellevue, NE; two grandchildren, Sabriena J. Lawrence of Pullman, WA, and William L Barnard IV of Bellevue, NE; and many loving family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
