Richard J. "Dick" Paxton, 77, of Junction City passed away September 12, 2014 at Geary Community Hospital. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, September 18, 2014 at the St. Xavier Catholic Church with Father Kerry Ninemire officiating. Rosary services will be prior to the Mass at 9:30 a.m. at St. Xavier Catholic Church. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 17, 2014 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Mass-Hinitt Chapel, 805 Caroline Avenue. Cremation will follow the services and a private family inurnment will take place at a later date at St. Mary's Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions have been designated to the St. Xavier Auction, c/o St. Xavier Catholic Church, P.O. Box 399, Junction City, KS 66441.
Dick was born January 15,1937, Saint Mary's, KS to Glenn E. and Katherine (Zeller) Paxton he was a graduate of St. Xavier High School class of 1954.
He married Mary Kay Hinitt November 11, 1958. He worked side by side with his father Glenn at Pax Body Shop and he worked in the family business, Mass-Hinitt Funeral Home and in the auto parts industry. He loved wood working and had made many special pieces for his family and friends over the years and was an avid bowler back in the day.
He is survived by his wife Mary Kay of the home, four children, Craig Paxton of Junction City, KS; Chris (Laura) Paxton of Eudora, KS; Doug (Kacie) Paxton of Ketchkan, AK; and Pam Paxton of Junction City, KS, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Shirley Clennan.
Pallbearers will be Michael Paxton, Eli Noa, Keith Ascher, Scott Mortimer, Matt Jackson and Danny Jackson
