Richard B. Fink, 76, of Milford, KS passed away at his residence on October 7, 2014. A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 13, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Faith Lutheran Church, 212 N. Eisenhower Dr., Pastor Cynthia Schnaath will officiate. A luncheon for family and friends will follow the memorial service at the church. A private family inurnment will take place with full military honors at Kansas Veterans' Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions have been designated to the Faith Lutheran Church.
Richard was born April 30, 1938 in Worthington, MN. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1957 and served for 23 years. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and received the Expert Infantry Badge, Good Conduct Medal (6th award), National Defense Service Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, Air Medal, Expert (M-14 Rifle), Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Gallantry Cross w/Palm (2nd award), the Army Commendation Medal w/One Leaf Cluster, Vietnam Service Medal w/Three Bronze Service Stars and One Silver Service Star, The Bronze Star Medal w/One Oak Leaf Cluster and the Meritorious Service Medal, he retired at the rank of MSG in1978.
After his retirement he worked for Home Lumber and Waters. His retirement left him with the time to pursue his hobby of attending local auctions and garage sales looking for precious metals, coins and the next diamond in the rough.
He married Maria Mae Kruse on October 8, 1960 in Worthington, MN she survives of the home.
Other survivors include three daughters, Kim Fasig (Tim); Kari Murrison (Matt); Kelly Prolago (Frank); and son, Richard Fink; eleven grandchildren; Meghann, Ryan, Justine, Amanda P., Dylan, Nick, Mallory, Garrett, Amanda F., Paige and Cody and four great-grandchildren; Luke, Landyn, Ava and Levi. He is also survived by three brothers, Robert Finke (Arlene); Tom Fink (Adele); Jim Fink (Glenda); and two sisters, LaDonna Sampson and Janice Poppen (David).
He was preceded in death by his parents Bernard and Lydia Fink and his sister, Leila Parnell
