A Memorial Mass for (Ret) MSG Rex M. Pierson, 90, Junction City will be 10 a.m. Saturday, at S. Xavier Catholic Church with Father Al Brungardt officiating. Burial of cremated remains will follow the service at St. Mary's Cemetery with full military honors. Rex passed away Sunday, January 4, 2008, at the Hanover Hospital in Hanover, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be given to St. Xavier Catholic Church, P.O. Box 399 Junction City, Kansas 66441.
Rex was born July 16, 1918, in Griswold, Iowa the son of Elmer and Flossye (Moon) Pierson.
Rex served in the United States Army during WW II and the Korean Conflict. He retired in 1965. After retirement he had a civil service career at Fort Riley having retired in 1980. He was a member of the American Legion Post #45, Eagles Lodge, Knights of Columbus and St. Xavier's Catholic Church. He graduated from Lewis High School in Lewis, Iowa in 1936. He attended Business College in Omaha, Nebraska.
Rex married Doris Wright January 6, 1942, in Rockford, Illinois. She survives
Survivors include three sons, Michael Pierson of Topeka, Kansas, Stephen Pierson of Hanover, Kansas and Rex A. Pierson of Winfield, Kansas. He is also survived by one daughter, Janice Cribbs of Wichita, Kansas. He is survived by 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter Mary Beth in 1953 and twin sister in 2008
