Rev. Calvin Lee Eden Sr., 84, of Junction City, Kansas, transitioned on May 1, 2016 at Valley View Senior Care in Junction City, Kansas. The family will greet friends on Monday, May 9, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home on 203 North Washington Street in Junction City, Kansas.
Services will be held on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at 10 a.m. at the Ward Chapel AME Church on 1711 N Jefferson Street in Junction City, Kansas with Dr. L.C. Drew officiating. Interment with military honors will be held afterward at Kansas Veterans' Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. at 5181 Wildcat Creek Road in Manhattan, Kansas.
Calvin was born on April 30, 1932 in Campti, Louisiana, son to Hall & Blanche Eden. He graduated from Natchitoches High School, Louisiana in 1952 and was a veteran of the United States Army. Calvin made Junction City his home in 1963. Calvin received his Ministerial license at Ward Chapel of Junction City, Kansas. There he became the Sunday school superintendent and a Sunday school teacher. He was also a member of the Men's Choir, Inspirational Choir, Women's Missionary Society, and Prayer Band.
Calvin met his wife Carrie Eden of Junction City in 1953. They married in 1956 Natchitoches, Louisiana and have been a couple for 60 years.
Calvin strived to educate, empower and strengthen his family. He wanted us to fulfill our deepest desires.
Surviving Calvin is his wife Carrie Eden of Junction City, KS; daughter Sylvia D. Eden of Topeka, KS; sons Gregory S. Eden of Independence, MO; Leary F. Eden of Topeka, KS; Calvin L. Eden Jr. of Elk Grove, CA; Vermon C. Eden of Topeka, KS and Harold F. Eden of Wichita, KS.
Other survivors include: Charley Eden, Betty Frazier, Lincoln Eden, and Bernard Eden all of California.
Calvin has numerous beloved nieces, nephews, grand kids and a host of other relatives
He was preceded in death by his Father, Hall Eden, and Mother, Blanche Eden.
