Funeral services for Ret SFC Leonard J. McCullough will be Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at 12:00 pm at the Second Missionary Baptist Church, 701 W. 10th St. with Reverend Dr. Leonard Gray officiating. Burial will follow with full military honors at Kansas Veterans' Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, April 25, 2011 from 6-8 pm at Penwell-Gabel Mass-Hinit Chapel, 805 Caroline Ave.
Mr. Leonard John Henry McCullough was received by the Lord on April 14, 2011. He quietly and peacefully passed away at St. Rosa Dominican Hospital – Siena in Henderson, NV with several members of his family present.
He was born on June 8, 1934 in Laredo, Texas.
Mr. McCullough was the loving husband of Gloria McCullough and leaves behind his son Clifton (Yulanda) and five daughters Karen McCullough, Stephanie Hicks (Tony), Sheryl Santa Cruz (Maximillian), Karla McCullough, Deborah Miller, two stepsons Alex Gantt and Matthew Gantt, a step-daughter Remona Evans and four loving granddaughters, six grandsons, and one great grandson. He also leaves behind one sister Pearl and one brother Melvin of San Jose, California, a host of nieces and nephews, and close friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother, son (Leonard, Jr.), two sisters and one brother.
Mr. McCullough was a career soldier who served honorably in Korea and Vietnam. He was a wonderful father and grandfather who loved the Lord and loved his family. He enjoyed cooking, spending time with and looking out for family and friends while making significant personal sacrifices for the good of others.
