Funeral services for Ret SFC Ama Andrew Horton, 54 of Junction City will be Monday, May 9, 2011 at 10:00 am at Penwell-Gabel Mass-Hinitt Chapel with Pastor Ronnie Roberts officiating. Burial will follow at Kansas Veterans' Cemetery with full Military Honors. Visitation will be Saturday, May 7, 2011 from 6-8 pm at the Penwell-Gabel Mass-Hinitt Chapel, 805 Caroline Ave. Mr. Horton passed away on May 4, 2011 at his home. Ama was born June 11, 1956 in Yalobusha, MS to Robert & Dorothy (Gooch) Horton, Sr.
Ama was in the United States Army for 23 years. During his time in the Army he received the Driver Badge, Army Lapel Button, Army Commendation, Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officer's Professional Development Ribbon with numeral 3, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Ribbon and the Sharpshooter Marksmanship. He was also the head custodian for USD 475 for 11 years. Ama enjoyed fishing in Milford Lake, gardening and grilling for his family.
He is survived by his children, Ama A. Horton II, April M. Horton and Crystal N. Horton. His parents, five grandchildren and four siblings. An ex-wife Barbara Bartosik and husband Henry.
