Funeral services for Major Raymond A. Wells (Ret), 76, Junction City will be Thursday, April 27, 2006, 10:00 a.m. at the Church of Our Savior United Methodist Church with the Reverend Joyce Allen officiating. Burial will follow at Fort Riley Cemetery will full military honors. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 26, 2006, 6-8:00 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Mass-Hinitt Chapel 805 Caroline Ave. Memorial contributions may be given to the Big Lake Developmental Center 1416 Hayes Drive Manhattan, Kansas 66502.
Mr. Wells was born August 6, 1929, in Junction City, Kansas, the son of Austin G. and Willie Inez (Solomon) Wells.
Raymond served in the U.S. Army for 22 years. He was a life time member of the V.F.W. in Junction City. Raymond was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Disabled American Veterans, Founding Member of Big Lakes Developmental Center in Manhattan and the Church of Our Saviour United Methodist Church in Junction City. Raymond did volunteer work for the Topeka Veterans Administration Hospital in Topeka and the Special Olympics.
Raymond married Dorothy Sims on January 15, 1955, in Jersey City, New Jersey. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include four Sons, Richard Wells of Manhattan, Ks., Stephen Wells of Junction City, Ks., Donald Wells of Topeka, Ks. and Daniel Wells of Manhattan, Ks. He is survived by one daughter Anne Wiseman of Lanham, Md. and one Brother Richard Wells of Orlando, Fl. and one Sister Consuelo Curley of Junction City, Kansas. Raymond is survived by three grandchildren and many nephews, nieces and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Inez Hannon.
Pallbearers will be Fort Riley Honor Guard.
