Funeral Services for Raymond R. Ascher, 88, Junction City will be 10:00am Wednesday, March 29, 2006 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 630 S. Eisenhower with Pastor Rick Marrs officiating. Burial will follow at Moss Springs Cemetery in southeast Geary County.
Mr. Ascher passed away March 23, 2006 at Valley View Professional Center. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00pm Tuesday, March 28, 2006 at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel, 203 N. Washington. Raymond was born December 26, 1917 in Eastern Geary County, KS the son of Louis and Emilie (Erichsen) Ascher. He was raised on his parents farm and continued farming until entering the military and serving in the US Army during World World II in the European theatre from March 1942 until November 1945. He had been employed as a electrician for 48 years working for Chase Electric for 20 years and 28 years as a independent. Mr. Ascher was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.
He was married to Ruth Etta Pettyjohn of Dwight, KS July 28, 1945 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church at Clark's Creek. She preceded him in death August 6, 1998.
Survivors include one brother Merle Ascher, and one sister Maxine Junghans both of Geary County and many nieces and nephews.
Raymond was also preceded in death by three brothers Virgil, Everett and Morley Ascher.
Pallbearers Earl Stackhouse, Matt Junghans, Brad Becker, Keith Ascher, Kevin Ascher, and Jerry Smith.
