A memorial service for Ralph "Bud" Wiehl, 89, Junction City,will be 10a.m., Tuesday, October 28, 2008, at the Penwell-Gabel Mass-Hinitt Funeral Chapel, 805 Caroline Avenue in Junction City. Pastors Darel Boston and Ronnie Roberts will officiate. Cremation has taken place. A private family inurnment will take place at a later date. Memorial contributions may be given to the organization of the donor's choice.
Ralph was born September 5, 1919, in Smith County, Kansas the son of John Joseph and Agnes Elizabeth (East) Wiehl. Ralph has lived in Junction City since 1946.
Ralph served in the United States Army during World War II having served in the European Theatre. He was awarded two Purple Heart Awards and two Bronze Star Awards. He had a Civil Service Career at Fort Riley for many years until he retired in 1974. He later owned and operated a rental business in Junction City. He was a youth baseball coach for many years in Junction City.
He married June O. Jensen January 1, 1946, in Junction City, Kansas. She survives of the home.
He is survived by two sons, Dean M. Wiehl of Milford, Kansas and Hartley J. Wiehl of Sierra Vista, Arizona; two daughters, Theodora Brent of Phoenix, Arizona and Danette Ford of Tampa, Florida. He is also survived by one sister Patricia Jones of Smith Center, Kansas; one brother, Warren Wiehl of Florence, Kentucky; ten grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Terry Lee Wiehl and one grandson Roger Wiehl.
