Ralph "Webb" Davis, 100, of Junction City, Kansas died on Thursday, February 20, 2025 at Valley View Senior Life Center in Junction City, Kansas.
Webb wished to be cremated. A private graveside service will take place at Highland Cemetery. A public memorial service will take place 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 18, 2025 at First Presbyterian Church with Pastor Huber Kemper officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to be given to the First Presbyterian Church 113 W. 5th Street Junction City, Kansas 66441.
Webb was born July 2, 1924, in Aullville, Missouri the son of Willie C. and Glenna S. (Burrow) Davis.
Webb attended the Aullville Missouri schools. He graduated from Malta Bend Senior High School with the class of 1941.
Webb had many occupations in Junction City. On December 2, 1954, he became the manager of the A&P Grocery Store on 7th Street. After refusing a transfer with A&P, he became a licensed insurance salesman with Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. He later owned and operated the Western Auto Store in Junction City. After selling the store, he operated Webb's Small Engine Repair where he sold and repaired lawn mowers and chain saws.
Webb loved his family and tried to be a friend to everyone. He enjoyed attending church, fixing things, fishing, hunting, playing golf, traveling, singing and spending time at the cabin at Council Grove Lake.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder and deacon. Webb was a charter member of the Sertoma Club, Fraternal Order of Eagles #595 and of the Elks Lodge #1037 where he served as the exalted ruler for two terms.
On July 8, 1945, he married Willa A. Lawson. She died March 18, 1961. He later married Marjorie L. Gfeller Gatza on June 10, 1962. She died August 3, 2020.
Survivors include one daughter Karen Flynn and her husband Dennis of Crossville, Tennessee; two step-daughter-in-laws, Kay Gatza and Theresa Gatza; five grandchildren, Richard Gatza, Brent Gatza, Michele Hamilton, Eric Flynn and Lindsay Bourisaw and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Joseph Davis and four sisters, Marie, Wylma, Sally and Frances; two step-sons, Daryl and Dale Gatza.
