Ralph Lee Brown, 69, formally of Middletown, OH, passed away on July 11, 2017 at Geary Community Hospital in Junction City, KS. Dove Cremation & Funeral Service, of Junction City, is assisting the family with cremation arrangements. No services are scheduled.
He was born on August 16, 1947, Middletown, Ohio to Fredrick and Wilma (Hanson) Brown. He lived his life in Middletown until he joined the United States Navy in 1965. While serving his country, he traveled to many places. He would jokingly refer to himself as a "paid tourist". He worked on the Navy submarines as a Crypto-Logic Technician. He retired in 1985 at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois. He moved back home to Ohio and worked as a truck driver with Midwest Seafood for 15 years. After his work in Ohio He moved to North Carolina to be close to his brother, Bill. In his final years, he relocated to Junction City, Kansas, to live with his two sons, Brad and Bruce. He was with them until his passing.
Ralph was a Lifetime Member of the V.F.W. Post 8773, American Legion, The Fraternal Order of the Eagles. He enjoyed bull riding. He was a 4th Place All Around Cowboy in Rota Naval Base, Spain, 1984. He was also a rodeo clown/bull fighter. Ralph loved motorcycles and rode until he couldn't anymore. He was a master bowler. He won many competitions. While in Naples, Italy, he umpired adult softball and baseball. He was a free spirit and celebrated that by traveling. He visited Hawaii, and all over the mainland United States.
He will be missed.
Ralph is survived by his three sons, Bradford Brown and Bruce Brown of Junction City, KS, and Chad Brown of Virginia Beach VA; four grandchildren Alexandra K. Brown, Abigail K. Brown, Alexis K. Brown, and Triston D. Brown; Great-grandson Kolby Scheuerman; two brothers Gary Brown and Bill Brown; one sister Paula Oliphant; and a host of loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fredrick & Wilma Brown.
