Phyllis Jean Kotoyantz, 83, of Junction City, passed away Aug. 2, 2018, at Chapman Valley Manor. Phyllis was born October 28, 1934 on the family farm in Geary County, KS to Hubert Sr. and Agnes (Fischer) Caspar.
Phyllis attended the country school Walla Walla Grade School followed by graduating from Junction City High School in 1952. Phyllis graduated from Kansas State University in 1955 with a BS in Medical Technology. On Feb. 1, 1958, she married Alex Kotoyantz. They divorced in 1980. Phyllis was a Medical Technologist at Geary Community Hospital for 57 years & had been the Supervisor since the 1960's. After retirement, she enjoyed attending Library programs, Historical Society functions, & being a member of the Ladies Reading Club. Phyllis was an avid reader with WW II being her favorite subject.
Survivors: son George Kotoyantz of Carlton, KS; daughter Katherina Howie, husband Gary of Abilene, KS; grandsons Justin Howie, wife Ashley, great-granddaughter Madelyn of Salina, KS & Phillip Howie of Abilene; sister Charlene Caspar of Junction City; KS, sister Joann Carlson of Topeka, KS; niece & nephews.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents & brother, Hubert Caspar, Jr.
A Memorial Mass will be Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Xavier's Catholic Church with Fr. Kyle Berens officiating. Visitation will be Monday, August 13, 2018, 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m., at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, 203 N. Washington Street, Junction City, KS.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions have been designated for the Phyllis Kotoyantz Lab Equipment Memorial, in c/o Geary Community Health Care Foundation, P.O. Box 3015, Junction City, KS 66441 and/or to St. Xavier Catholic Church, P.O. Box 399, Junction City, KS 66441.
