Phyllis J. Gleason, 75, of Manhattan, Kansas, passed away on August 15, 2016 at Good Shepherd Hospice House. Dove Cremation & Funeral Service, of Junction City, is assisting the family with cremation arrangements.
A Memorial service will be held on Friday, August 19, 2016, at 2:00 p.m., at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 2900 Kimball Ave, Manhattan, Kansas 66502. Memorials are suggested to the Manhattan Catholic Schools, Special Olympics of Kansas, and Good Shepherd Hospice House of Manhattan.
Phyllis was born on August 7, 1941, in Garden City, Kansas, to Donald and Pearl (Burns) Scott. She graduated from Cimarron High School in 1959. She then went on to study at Stormont Vail School of Nursing in Topeka, Kansas. There, she earned her Diploma in Nursing. Phyllis worked as a registered nurse for 33 years at St. Mary's Hospital and 5 years at Manhattan Surgical Hospital. She retired in 2006.
On July 9, 1966, she married Jim Gleason in Ingalls, Kansas. They have resided in Manhattan, Kansas, since 1968.
Phyllis enjoyed playing bingo at the American Legion and The Eagles, spending time with her grandchildren (Hailey and Alex), visiting the casino and taking their money, cooking for her family and friends, traveling to visit her daughter Gina and family in Lee's Summit Missouri, and taking care of her loved ones in need.
Phyllis is survived by her loving Husband, Jim; her Two Daughters, Gina (Amy Ablian) Gleason of Lee's Summit, MO; Jamie (John) Robinson; Granddaughter, Hailey M. Robinson; and Grandson, Alex J. Robinson all of Manhattan, KS.
She was preceded in death by her Mother, Pearl E. Scott, Father, Donald D. Scott, Brother, Richard Scott, Sister, Marilyn Grauerholz, and Niece, Tereasa Scott.
