Funeral services for Phylis Johnston, 75 of Dadeville, AL will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, November 8, 2010 at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel, 203 N. Washington Street with Pastor Sam Cawley officiating. Burial will follow at Milford Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, November 7, 2010 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel. Mrs. Johnston passed away at her residence on November 2, 2010 in Dadeville, AL.
Mrs. Johnston was born in Industry, KS on March 8, 1935, the daughter of Harry and Adda Dornberger. She was a retired supervisor with Montgomery Wards with thirty years of service. She was also co-owner of Express Yourself, LLC in Alexander, AL. Phylis was known for her beautiful flowers and her love of gardening as well as being a loving and caring neighbor. She was a member of First Christian Church in Junction City, KS and was faithful in Camp Hill Methodist Church, Camp Hill, AL.
Mrs. Johnston leaves behind a loving devoted husband Robert (Bob) Johnston, daughters Judy Johnston of Havre de Grace, MD and Lisa Rodman of Alex City, AL, a son Rob Johnston of Topeka, KS, son-in-law Terry Rodman of Alex City, AL and daughter-in-law Beth Johnston of Topeka, KS; brothers Martin Dornberger of Leonardville, KS and Earl Dornberger of Riley, KS, a sister Shirley Woods of Lafe, AR, five grandchildren Bryan Appodaca, Michele Phelps, Brad Johnston, Chris and Scott Rodman and four great-grandchildren, Dillon and Jesse Appodaca and Daphne and Patrick Phelps. She also leaves behind a host of loving friends and neighbors.
