Phillip B. Adams, 65, of Junction City passed away September 11, 2007 at Geary Community Hospital. A gathering of family and friends will be Thursday, September 13, 2007, 6-8 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel, 203 N. Washington. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society, Heartland Division, 1100 Pennsylvania Avenue, Kansas City, MO 64105. Penwell-Gabel is assisting the family with cremation arrangements.
Mr. Adams was born September 29, 1941 in Chesnee, SC to James B. and Elura (Gossett) Adams. He was in the U S Army and served one tour of duty in Vietnam. Following his time in the military he worked for Ervin Construction Company and as mechanic with various businesses within the Junction City community. He then worked as a diesel mechanic and retired as a Service Manager for Ryder Truck Rental for Woolworth Distribution Center in the mid 90's. He married Judy Marie (Peterson) December 16, 1966 Junction City she preceded him in death May 23, 2001. He was a member of the Milford RCer's.
He is survived by one son; James E. Smith, Jr. of Topeka, KS and one daughter; Robin Martino of Junction City, KS, one grandson; Brandon Martino of Junction City, one brother; Olin Adams of Augusta, SC, two sisters; Ethel Chapman of Lake Murray, SC and Euna Mae Lee of Surfside Beach, SC.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters.
